about
I hear a lot about Seasonal Affective Disorder when it comes to so-called cold/grey/wet climates like Melbourne, Portland, etc... Personally, no weather depresses me more than Summer.
But even more than that, this song is a direct response to one of my favourite songs by Say Hi -- "November was White, December was Grey". I love the song but disagree with the sentiment.
lyrics
Straining AC roars
And the sunlight's harsh
November was bright
and December worse
Well, someday real soon
When the autumn hides the sun
I'll finally sleep, I'll finally…
Feel better when the winter's here
I'll feel better when the winter's here
For these three months
Oppressed inside the house
My sweat has soaked
All the linen through
Just give me the frost
those sparkles on the grass
I'll finally breathe, I'll finally…
Feel better when the winter's here
I'll feel better when the winter's here
I'll feel better when the winter's here
I'll feel better when the winter's here
Deafcult's first EP/Demo shows their roots in a way that combines crushing guitars and subdued vocals but without the cliches often found in other shoegazer bands. isn't
